Definitely my favourite stop on the trip so far.
A charming little town with lovely french-asian colonial architecture.
The best thing though – all the tailoring shops!!! I have had made some pants, as it can be hard for me to find pants to fit, and skirts (ditto) and a lovely wool duffle jacket with a fancy collar. I also have a chinese style dress made of olive green silk. Mr. Sassy now has a killer suit and 2 shirts. All brilliant quality and relatively cheap.
The website: www.yalycouture.com, apparently stuff can be ordered over the internet.
The food here is great, myself and hubby have just returned from a Vietnamese cooking class.
This afternoon, we went bike riding through the villages to the beach. It was atmospheric seeing rice paddies, the locals and dodging errant dogs, chickens and children. It was pissing down with rain so I got soaked. We did not spend much time on the beach, but I stood there in the rain with my feet in the surprisingly warm ocean. It was good for the soul.
Off to Hue tomorrow.
Now – off to drink some tubes.
